1. O texto abaixo foi extraído de uma adaptação do conto infantil Goldilocks - Cachinhos dourados. Nessa história, uma menina de cachinhos dourados, ou cabelos dourados, encontra a casa de uma família de ursos, onde, por causa de sua curiosidade, vai descobrindo os gostos e preferências dos moradores. Sua curiosidade causa muitas confusões, que deixam os ursos desapontados.
"On a summer day not very long ago, a little girl played with her three teddy bears in the shade of a big tree. The girl, who was called Goldilocks, on account of her shiny golden hair, spent the whole morning in the woods..."
"Before long Goldiloks came to a delightful little house...Flowers bloomed in window boxes, and there were three doors of differet sizes. 'I wonder who lives here! exclaimed Goldiloks..."
2. Você conhece a história do Gato de Botas? Aquele gato esperto que fez o filho do moleiro se tornar o Marquês de Carabás? Em inglês, a história se chama Puss in Boots, e a cena que você lerá agora diz respeito à conversa entre o filho mais novo de um moleiro e o gato que havia recebido como herança de seu pai.
"Once upon a time in a village in a kingdom, there was a miller and three sons.
One day, the old miller died, and he left his own possessions to his sons. To the oldest on, he left his mill, to the middle son he left his donkey, and to his youngest son he left his cat. (...)
The yougest son was complaining to himself, when suddenly the cat spoke up. 'Look here,' it said quite plainly' get me a fine hat, cape and boots, and I´ll see that your future will be bright'.
So surprise was the young man to hear the cat speak that he obeyed at once. Taking his last coins, he went into the village and had the clothes especially made. The cat was a pleased as he could be when he slipped on the boots, hat and cape. With a wave and a wink, he set off down the road, leaving his master. (...)"
